Breaking the Water Shortage Bottleneck! Asia's Largest DN2600 HDPE Pipe Successfully Deployed at Sea, Safeguarding Taiwan’s Residential and Tech Industry Water Supply

Recently, the highly anticipated Tainan Desalination Plant project reached a major milestone: DN2600 HDPE pipes were thermal-fusion welded into 230-meter-long "dragons" and towed out to sea by vessels toward their destination. In the field of ultra-large diameter pipe manufacturing, producing thick-walled DN2600 HDPE pipes is widely regarded as an industry "ultimate challenge."
The creation of these massive pipe sections relied on the precision manufacturing of Taiwan's Hsiung Yeu Company. To guarantee both capacity and quality, Hsiung Yeu conducted rigorous evaluations across domestic and international suppliers before selecting the high-efficiency, energy-saving extrusion equipment from Jiangsu Oriplas. The machinery achieved a successful startup on its very first try, establishing stable extrusion production of the thick-walled DN2600 HDPE pipes. This achievement not only fully satisfied the project's supply demands, but also set a new benchmark for ultra-large diameter pipe manufacturing capabilities.
The Pipeline construction is scheduled for full completion by late October next year, with the desalination plant officially commencing water delivery operations by the end of next year. This breakthrough highlights the strong capabilities of cross-strait enterprises in high-end equipment manufacturing and major infrastructure engineering. Moreover, it accelerates the development of Tainan's water resource infrastructure, providing solid support to ensure water security for both everyday livelihoods and the critical semiconductor supply chain.
